USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis released its 2021 Spring Schedule, announced today by head coach Dan Oosterhous. The season begins Jan. 27 and concludes April 24. The Falcons are slated to play 12 non-conference matches and seven Mountain West matches, including home and away matches at in-state rivals Denver and Metro State.
"Athletic competition is a very meaningful part of our cadets' experience at the Academy and we are grateful for the opportunity to be back on the courts competing," Oosterhous said.
The Falcons open the season Jan. 27 hosting Metro State followed by a road trip Jan. 29 to nationally-ranked Denver. The following week, Air Force travels to Omaha on Feb. 6 and Creighton on Feb. 6. The month is capped on the 27th with a home match against Denver.
The Falcons hit the road the entire month of March with seven road contests. Air Force starts the month in the state of Utah for matches at BYU (March 12) and in Ogden, Utah against Idaho State (March 13) and Weber State (March 14). The Falcons then take on Metro State on March 19, Sacramento State on March 25 and then follow with MW matches on March 26 at Nevada and March 28 at Fresno State.
Air Force plays five of seven matches at home in April. A busy week begins April 7 against Northern Arizona, followed by an April 8 tilt against Omaha. The Falcons then face conference rivals San Diego State on April 9 and UNLV on April 11.
The following week has Air Force at Utah State on April 16 and Boise State on April 18. The Falcons wrap up the regular season April 24 hosting New Mexico. There is no conference tournament for the 2021 season, with the regular season champion representing the MW in the NCAA's.
Air Force is led by team captains, seniors Jamie Bautista and Paul Hendrix. Hendrix was All-Mountain West singles and both Bautista and Hendrix were All-MW doubles as juniors last season.
