Air Force Opens 2021 With 7-0 Sweep Of Metro State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis opened the 2021 season with a 7-0 win over Metro State Wednesday evening at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts.

The Falcons swept the singles portion of play and won two of three in doubles for the point.

Paul Hendrix and Jamie Bautista won at No. 1 doubles over Billy McDermott/Alejandro Martinez-Morilla 6-3 and Robert Baylon and Jordan Azuma won at No. 2 doubles over Jack McDermott/Jeanloup Auzias 6-2.

In singles, the Falcons won all six matchups in straight sets.

Hendrix won at No. 1 over Daniel Llorent 6-2, 6-4. Justin Waldman won at No. 2 over Martinez-Morilla 6-4, 6-3. Jonathan Mascagni won at No. 3 over Jack McDermott 6-4, 6-2.

Baylon won at No. 4 over Billy McDermott 6-4, 7-5. Azuma won at No. 5 over David Kijak 6-0, 6-3. Morgan Ihrig won at No. 6 over Auzias 6-1, 6-2.

Air Force returns to action this Friday, Jan. 29 at Denver.
