USAF ACADEMY – Air Force blew by Incarnate Word, 5-2, in a Sunday afternoon Western Athletic Conference matchup at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons improved to 6-4-1 overall, maintaining a perfect record in the league at 5-0. UIW dropped to 2-7-2 on the season with a 1-3-1 mark in league matches.
Senior forward Tristan Trager led the way with a four-point performance via a pair of goals on two shots along with a pair of assists. Trager's goals came within a 44-second span of each other, assisted by four teammates in synchrony—Lathan Spadafora, Kobey Stoup, London Aghedo and Luke Hill. He assisted Spadafora on the first strike of the game in the fifth minute and Giuliano Daniel on his strike in the 78th minute.
Senior defender Jared Dove notched his first goal of the season with a header deep in the box, serviced by Remi Smith on a set piece.
Incarnate Word's two goals were both scored by Koen Vos in penalty kicks. Senior goalie Kainoa Likewise was otherwise sturdy in frame, making six saves on the match and securing his fifth-straight win in goal.
Head coach Doug Hill saw to it that 21 players saw action on the match. London Aghedo and Jake Chaffetz anchored the defense, clocking 84 minutes of action.
"Overall it's been a great weekend with two wins at home," head coach Doug Hill said. "We're planning on taking that confidence up to a tough Seattle U team and try to keep the momentum going. The players are giving 90 minutes of great effort, they're truly bought in. Even though we started off a little sluggish, we stuck to the plan and played our brand of soccer in the second half. Tristan Trager had a tremendous four goal weekend and he's helping our team play faster. The defense was strong, we only gave up PK goals and those can be tough to stop. Overall, I was pleased with the effort this weekend and now it's time to turn it around and get ready for Seattle."
Next up, the Falcons travel to Seattle U to take on the Redhawks in Saturday evening matchup at Championship Field. Action is set to kick off at 7 p.m. PT. The match will be aired on ESPN+.
