FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Air Force will come back to Colorado Springs after a two-game road trip without a win, as the Falcons were unable to find a score in a 1-0 loss to Colorado State.
Coach Friend's team outshot CSU 17-15, including 14-3 in the second-half with the Falcons chasing the match. Faith Lee led Air Force with 4 shots, though none forced action from the goalkeeper. Eight different Falcons made attempts on goal, but only five of the 17 shots were considered on goal.
The Falcons struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first-half, though a stout defense kept the Rams off the scoreboard over the first 45 minutes. However, in the 64th minute, a Rams counter-attack resulted in the lone score of the game. Air Force, despite the frequent shot attempts, hardly forced the Rams into much danger.
Air Force drops to 5-7-1 overall and 2-4 in the Mountain West with the loss.
Next, the Falcons will close out their home schedule with matches against Utah State and Boise State later this week.
