USAFA, Colo. - Returning to their home field after a winless road trip against Wyoming and Colorado State, the Falcons managed to put together one of the team's strongest performances of 2021 in a scoreless draw against Utah State.
Air Force may not have found the back of the net, but the offensive attack consistently put the Aggies in harm's way. Larry Friend's squad recorded more than six shots in both halves of regulation, and was the side managing possession for most of the two overtime periods.
Faith Lee clocked in for a very important 110-minute shift, as her physicality was felt around the pitch. As well, her seven shots and three shots on goal were game-highs for the Falcons. Cassi Bych entered off the bench, though she was heavily relied upon as a wide player. Her four shots tonight were a career-high.
Abbigail Copp's lone shot in the 66th minute required a leaping save from USU's keeper Diera Walton, while Mia Otero also provided a shot on goal.
Tonight marks Cammi Bych's fourth shutout of the season and her first in 2021 Mountain West play. Her four clean sheets thus far are third-most in the conference.
Along with Lee and Bych, Catherine Bakken and Kayla Milford were too among six players to play all 110 minutes. Freshmen defenders Kendall Ahern and Hannah Johnson also played all available minutes.
Next, Air Force wraps up the home portion of its 2021 schedule against Boise State on Sunday, October 17. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
