Women’s Swimming Sweeps Second-Straight Tri-Meet

USAF ACADEMY- The women's swimming team claimed victories over Omaha-Nebraska (179.00-110.00) and Colorado Mines (194.00-79.00), Friday evening at Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons claimed 15 first-place finishes and placed 20 in the top-three.
In the 200 medley relay, Air Force's Anna Ashley, Kimmy Woolfenden, Allana Clarke and Sefilina Maile claimed the top spot with a time of 1:44.57. The Falcons' 200 freestyle relay team also claimed the win as Corbyn Cormack, Charlotte Choo, Abby Turner and Addie Orris won with a 1:37.55.
Madeline Letendre claimed her first first-place finish this season, winning the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:00.80. Teammate Corbyn Cormack, who has had a share of first-place in every meet this season and won MW Freshman of the Week, won the 200 freestyle with a 1:55.48. Sefilina Maile took first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.97. She also won first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.24.
Kimmy Woolfenden continued to have success in the 100 breast stroke, winning first with a 1:06.71, as well as a top-finish in the 200 breast stroke (2:26.90). Teammate Shayla Markle claimed the first-place spot in the 200 butterfly, winning with a 2:10.37. Abby Turner claimed first in the 50 freestyle with a 23.92, and first in the 100 freestyle with a 52.46.
Ashlyn Foster, a diver, claimed first on the three-meter dive with a score of 224.10. Diving teammate Anna Kemper won first in the one-meter dive with a 217.70. Ella Martin, a swimmer, won first in the 200 back stroke with a 2:09.19. Teammate Alex Clark took the win in the 100 butterfly with a 58.79.
"Tonight our team stepped up to a new level," head coach Colleen Murphy said. While many of our women got to swim different events, they raced so well. We are in heavy training and they were able to finish races with grit and determination".
"We are in a great place as a team and we will continue to build momentum throughout our next few home meets leading into the Phil Hansel Invitational."
Tomorrow (Oct. 16), a contingent of divers will compete at the Lancer Diving Invite, hosted by California Baptist. Action is slated for 10 a.m. PT.
Next week, the Falcons host Wyoming, LSU and Denver in the Rocky Mountain Invitational, Friday-Saturday (Oct. 22-23). Action is slated for 5 p.m. MT on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. LSU's Olympic Gold Medalist in the 4x100 freestyle relay, Brooks Curry, is expected to compete in the event.
