Men's Soccer Welcomes Dixie State, UNLV for WAC Action

Air Force returns to Cadet Soccer Stadium to host Dixie State and UNLV, Friday (Oct. 22) and Sunday (Oct. 24), respectively. The match against Dixie State is slated for 6 p.m., while the Falcons and Rebels will kick off at 1 p.m.
Current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks outside on military installations.
THE SERIES AGAINST DIXIE STATE
The Falcons and Bison will be meeting for the second time in program history with Air Force holding the only victory in the one-match series. Last season, Air Force blanked the Western Athletic Conference newcomers, 4-0, in their Division I debut, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 6, 2021), at Greater Zion Stadium.
THE SERIES AGAINST UNLV
The Falcons will meet with UNLV for the 43rd time in program history. Air Force leads the all-time series, 22-16-4. In the last 11 meetings, the Falcons are 7-3-2 against the Rebels. UNLV has not beat the Falcons at USAFA since 2003-- Air Force is 10-0-1 against UNLV in the last 11 meetings at the Academy. The Rebels' last win against Air Force was the WAC Championship match in 2016.
Last season, Air Force and UNLV played to a draw at nil at Peter Johann Memorial field in Las Vegas. The Rebels outshot the Falcons, 20-11, but a stout Air Force defense behind Kainoa Likewise in goal held UNLV scoreless at the final horn. Likewise made a career-high 11 saves on the match.

The Falcons hit the road for a pair of matches heading into the Halloween weekend, taking on Utah Valley in Orem, Utah, on Thursday (Oct. 28), and wrapping up the weekend at California Baptist, Saturday (Oct. 30), in Irvine, California. Action is slated for 7 p.m. MT and 7 p.m. PT, respectively.

Seattle U rallied from an early deficit to defeat Air Force in Western Athletic Conference action, Saturday evening (Oct. 16), at Championship Field. The Falcons took their first loss in league play, dropping to 6-5-1 overall with a 5-1 mark in conference.
WAC BY THE NUMBERS
As a team, Seattle U leads the WAC in shots (218), corner kicks (88) and are tied with Grand Canyon and San José State for the lead in shutouts (4). First-place GCU is also the leader in points (82), goals (29), goals per game (2.42), least goals allowed (11) and goals against average (0.91). Air Force, also in first place, holds the lead in assists (25) while Utah Valley holds the top mark in assists per game (2.09). Dixie State has the lead in saves (65).
Individually, SU's Declan McGlynnis the leader in shots (50) and AFA's Tristan Trager is the leader in shots per game (4.00), points (23), points per game (2.09), goals per game (0.82) and is tied with CBU's Bryan Iliohan for the lead in total goals (9). UNLV's Marco Gonzalez and SU's Levonte Johnson are tied for the lead in assists (0.46) while Gonzalez has a slight lead in assists per game (0.46).
In goal, UVU's Joseph Wheelwright has the top goals against average (0.80) while GCU's Rafael Guerrero is the leader in save percentage (.857). SU's Akili Kasim has the most saves (57) while DSU's Levi Lord is the leader in saves per game (5.40). Guerrero, Kasim and SJSU's David Sweeney share the lead for shutouts with three each.
