The women from CS-15 went a perfect three-for-three during this afternoon's Fights.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Highlighted by a squadron-sweep in the women's bouts, a younger contingent of the Air Force boxing team returned to the Cadet Gym this afternoon (Oct. 22) for its third round of Friday Night Fights this season.
Cadet Squadron 15 had a perfect day during the three women's bouts contested this afternoon, as freshman Shelby Paul, junior Hannah Schuster and sophomore Mack Lucas all captured victories by decisions. Paul started the sweep with a 154-pound victory over sophomore Morgan Robert), while Schuster (sophomore Katie Bush) and Lucas (freshman Billie Botes) both earned wins at 156 pounds.
Freshman Luke Kohout earned his first Boxer of the Week award after claiming a decision over sophomore Daniel Lett in a 163-pound contest, while Jeremiah Birdsong (junior Syd Reyes) and Robert Marizicola (Adam Luberthal) captured 164-pound decisions in their respective bouts. Aaron Vincent decisioned sophomore Javier Silva-Gomez at 134 pounds, while Jacob Mendoza claimed the same outcome in his 193-pound bout with junior Joseph Fuentes. In the only bout that did not go to the judges for decision, junior Devin Broxton claimed a 172-pound victory over sophomore Andrew Ison after forcing the referee to stop their bout in the second round.
The Falcons return to action next Friday (Oct. 29) when they travel to Detroit for the annual Chuck Davey Invitational against Navy and Army West Point.
