Falcons drop match to Lobos

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A two-goal deficit was too much to overcome on the road at New Mexico, as the Falcons fell to the Lobos 2-1. Tatiana Limon scored her second goal of the season in the 85th minute, though Air Force was unable to create an equalizer with only minutes remaining.
As a team, the Falcons managed 11 shots, including eight in the second half, totaling six shots on goal. Kayla Milford led Air Force with three shots, including one on goal. Mia Otero led the team with two shots on goal. In typical conference fashion, the two teams combined for 30 fouls and four yellow cards. Stella Rubidoux and Faith Lee were among the carded players.
A stalemate throughout much of the first half, the Lobos managed to create a goal in the 45th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Ten minutes into the second-half, New Mexico's Madi Hirschman scored her second goal of the afternoon, leaving Air Force to chase the game. A New Mexico native, Tatiana Limon entered the game off the bench with time sparing, but she made her presence felt immediately. A cross from Ashlie Van Cleave with five minutes left on the clock found Limon, who beat the Lobo keeper for her second score of the season. The assist was Van Cleave's second of 2021.
Air Force never took its foot off the gas, but the Falcons were unable to find the game-tying goal.
Next, the Falcons close the 2021 regular season on the road at Colorado College on Thursday, October 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm MT.
