Falcons Set to Host Colorado State, Wyoming

Air Force will host its two most-local conference opponents this week at Cadet East Gym.
The Air Force volleyball team returns to the Academy this week for a pair of Mountain West contests against Colorado State and Wyoming. The Falcons, which faced both squads just two weeks ago, will host the league-leading Rams on Thursday, Oct. 28, before facing the Cowgirls on Saturday, Oct. 30.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
With a 13-6 overall record, Colorado State currently leads the Mountain West with a 9-1 mark in conference play. The Rams, who are coming off road wins at San Diego State (3-2) and UNLV (3-0), are holding MW opponents to a league-low .167 hitting and ranked among the conference's top-three in hitting (second, .264), kills (third, 13.06), aces (1.71) and digs (third, 12.79). Wyoming, who will play at New Mexico prior to Saturday's match at the Academy, enters the week with a 13-9 record and an even 5-5 mark in conference action after splitting their UNLV (2-3 loss) and San Diego State (3-0 win) road trip. The Cowgirls are ranked second in kills (13.28) and digs (13.89) during conference-only matches, while holding the league's third-best average in assists (11.94).
HISTORY 101
Air Force is 2-54 all-time against Colorado State and holds a 6-44 lifetime record against Wyoming. In their first meeting of the 2021 season – held just two weeks earlier, the Falcons were swept on the road by both the Rams (14-25, 19-25, 15-25) and Cowgirls (19-25, 26-28, 18-25). Although Air Force has never beaten Colorado State at the Academy, four of its six wins over Wyoming have happened within the confines of Cadet East Gym – the last in 2013.
AIR FORCE IN THE CONFERENCE STANDINGS
Joi Harvey is ranked among the conference's top three in both blocks (second, 1.16) and hitting (third, .389) during all matches, while holding a No. 4 placement in hitting (.394) during conference contests. Harvey is one of two Falcons listed among the league' top 10 in hitting during MW matches, as Mac Russ is listed ninth with a .338 average. Caroline Reinkensmeyer is also ranked among the program's top 10, as she is averaging 5.13 assists-per-set (10th).
WELCOME BACK
Fans are invited back to Air Force Volleyball matches this fall, but current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks outside on military installations.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force heads out on the road next week for its final, full two-match road trip of the season. The Falcons will travel to Utah State on Thursday, Nov. 4, before heading to Boise State on Saturday, Nov. 6. Both matches are slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. (MT).
