
Falcons post best tournament score of season in Maui

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team concluded the fall season with its best tournament of the season, Sunday, Oct. 31, at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate in Lahaini, Maui.
Freshman Cameron Kahle and sophomore Sawyer Pierce were tied as the top Falcons on the final day, each shooting 72 (+1). Kahle recorded three straight birdies on the back side and played the final 13 holes in three-under-par. After making 13 pars in each of the first two rounds, Pierce's consistent play went to a new level in the final round. Pierce started his round on No. 16 and bogeyed the par-4 18th. He then made 15 straight pars for 17 on the day. Sophomore Aaron Kuznik shot 76, junior Isaac Layne (78) and freshman Christopher Park (82) in the final round.
Kahle was the top Falcon for the tournament, coming in at 217 (+4). Pierce was second at 220, followed by Kuznik (231), Park (233) and Layne (236).
Air Force placed 14th with a three-round score of 893, the best of the season. The team's 292 in the second round was the team's 18 holes of the year. Kansas won the tournament with an 800. Colorado was second at 820 and Boise State was third at 824.
The Falcons are now off until Feb. 11-12 at the Classic Club Match Play event in Palm Desert, Calif.
