Falcons Return Home for Two MW Matches

Air Force will host Boise State (Oct. 7) and Utah State (Oct. 9) at Cadet East Gym.
The Air Force volleyball team returns to the Academy this weekend for a pair of Mountain West contests at Cadet East Gym. The Falcons open the two-match homestand against Boise State on Thursday (Oct. 7) night, before hosting Utah State on Saturday (Oct. 9) morning.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Boise State is 13-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play, after splitting last weekend's home contests with San Jose State (2-3 loss) and Nevada (3-1 win). The Broncos lead the Mountain West in team hitting (.261) and blocking (3.20) during conference matches, while also claiming the top-two individual blockers – Paige Bartsch (1.63), Makayla Hansen (1.47) – in league-only contests. Following a victorious weekend over Nevada (3-1) and San Jose State (3-0), Utah State improved to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Aggies, who will play at New Mexico prior to visiting the Academy on Saturday, are ranked among the conference's top five in digs (fourth, 13.20) and opponent hitting (fifth, .200) during MW matches, while Kennedi Boyd (.433 hitting) and Abby Peterson (3.80 digs) are listed third in conference-only contests.

Four of the top-five blockers in the Mountain West (all matches) will be on the Cadet East Gym court Thursday night, with Air Force's Joi Harvey (second, 12.6) and Boise State's Alyssa Wissinger (first, 1.42), Alli O'Harra (third, 1.26) and Makayla Hansen (fifth, 1.17).
HISTORY 101
Air Force is 5-14 all-time against Boise State and hold a 5-9 lifetime record against Utah State. The Falcons captured victories over both teams during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season – a 3-1 home win over the Broncos in their only meeting and 3-0 victory over the Aggies to close out a split weekend in Logan. Air Force has claimed the win during its last three home matches against both programs, sitting 5-4 against Boise State and 3-3 against Utah State at the Academy since the opponents joined the Mountain West.
MIXING THINGS UP
With the arrival of the Falcons' new uniforms, four players have switched numbers – Madison Felker (3), Murphy Riggs (5), Kate Perryman (12), Mekayla Dedo (21) – and will wear these new numbers for the rest of the season.

Three Falcons– Joi Harvey (third, .389), Taleah Cooper (eighth, .343) and Mac Russ (10th, .316) – are ranked among the Mountain West's top 10 in hitting (all matches), while Russ (second, .444) and Harvey (fifth, .400) are listed among the top five in hitting during conference contests.

Fans are invited back to Air Force Volleyball matches this fall, but current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks outside on military installations.

Air Force heads back out on the road next week to wrap up the first half of the home-and-home portion of the conference season against Wyoming (Oct. 14) and Colorado State (Oct. 16).
