USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Backed by a career-high 18 kills from senior Bailey Keith and another solid all-around team performance, the Air Force volleyball team opened its final homestand of the season with a wild five-set victory over San Diego State this evening (Nov. 11) at Cadet East Gym. The Falcons picked up their fourth-straight home victory over the Aztecs – and sixth in the last seven years – with the 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-9 win.

The trio – part of the 10-Falcon group that recorded kills on the night, also helped Air Force to a season-high 17-block night. Harvey led the way with 10 total stops (two solo, eight assisted) and her second double-double of the season, while Messenger added six (one solo, five assisted) and Keith was one three Falcons – sophomore Aaryn Scires, junior Taleah Cooper – to account for four blocks (all assisted). Sophomore Caroline Reinkensmeyer, who also earned multiple aces in the match (two), registered a team-high 23 assists, while classmate Madison Felker rounded out the Falcons' statistical leaders with 12 digs.
Reinkensmeyer opened the match with an ace, but the Aztecs scored seven of the next 10 points to take an early 7-4 lead. Freshman Mac Russ stopped the run with a strike, while two kills and a block from Scires (assisted by Messenger) helped the Falcons event the set at eight. Air Force took the lead back on the ensuing point, while another kill from Scires broke a 10-all tie and helped the Falcons push their advantage to three (13-10). A Keith kill and Messenger block evened the set at 17 and the teams traded another set of runs – 4-0 streaks this time.
