Air Force Falls At Montana

MISSOULA, MT - Air Force men's basketball fell to Montana 66-48 Wednesday night at Dalhberg Arena. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Falcons, who dropped to 7-2 on the season.
Montana (6-4) controlled the game by dominating the paint. The Grizzlies out-scored the Falcons 36-18 inside and won the rebounding battle 41-20. Cameron Parker led Montana with 20 points and Josh Bannan scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Montana led 35-24 at the half, taking control of the game midway through the first-half. Air Force led by as many as six early on, but Montana took its first lead at the 7:57 mark. After Air Force tied it 21-21 on a three by Jake Heidbreder, the Grizzlies closed the half on a 14-3 run to take the double-digit lead at the half.
Montana opened the second half with an 8-0 run to jump ahead 43-24. The Falcons rallied back and got to within eight points at with under five minutes to play, but could not get closer.
Senior guard AJ Walker led the Falcons with 18 points and three steals. Walker was 5 of 11 from the field and 3 of 3 from three-point range. Heidbreder added 10 points and a team-high four rebounds. Freshman center Lucas Moerman had a career-high four blocked shots and freshman guard Ethan Taylor added seven points and three steals.
The Falcons shot 35 percent from the field and a season-best 44 percent from three-point range. The Falcons also tied a season-high with six blocked shots.
Air Force is off from competition next week due to finals, and returns to action Sunday, Dec. 19, at Arkansas State. Tip time is 3 pm CT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
