Women’s Tennis With 7-0 Sweep Of CSU-Pueblo

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's tennis (2-1) defeated CSU-Pueblo 7-0 in non-conference action Wednesday night at the Indoor Tennis Courts. The Falcons swept the doubles competition and won all six singles matches in straight sets.

The Falcons opened doubles with a pair of 6-0 wins at No. 3 and No. 2. Sydney Fitch and Ksenia Vasilyev, who made her collegiate debut, defeated Roma Cordova and Alyssa Wells at No. 3, 6-0. At No. 2, Alex Kuo and Isabella Flodin dispatched Katherine Ambrose and Sabina Garduno De La Vega 6-0. At No. 1 singles, Meredith Jones and Hailey Stelse defeated Kali Hamilton and Tilly Blasdale, 6-3.

Air Force picked up its first singles point at No. 2 singles as Fitch defeated Ambrose 6-3, 6-0. It became 3-0 Falcons when Stelse won at No. 4 over Cordova 6-0, 6-0. The Falcons took the dual with a win at No. 3 by Kuo over Blasdale 6-2, 6-0.

Jones then won at No. 1 over Hamilton 6-3, 6-0. Mebeli Becerra won at No. 5 over De La Vega 6-0, 6-2 and Flodin won at No. 6 over Walls 6-3, 6-2.

Air Force returns to action Feb. 19 with matches against Texas Permian-Basin and Southwest (N.M.) in Midland, Texas.
