USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy women's swimming and diving team is prepped and ready to compete at the 2021 Mountain West Conference Championships, Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 17-20. The action will be split up into two locations, with the swimmers competing at the Buchanan Natatorium on the campus of UNLV, while the divers will remain at home at the Cadet Natatorium.
Each day of the championships will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network. Live results will also be available. All information can be found at the Championship Central link.
The Falcons concluded the 2020-21 regular season with a 7-6 dual meet record, including 2-3 in the MW. All 13 duals were contested at home. The swimming portion of the MW Championships will be the first time the AF swimmers have competed outside the state of Colorado this season.
Air Force has five swimmers with season times within the top-eight of the conference in their respective events, and will look for an All-MW finish. This includes sophomore Sefilina Maile in the 50 free (4th), 100 free (2nd), and 200 free (6th), senior Kylie Stronko in the 100 back (5th) and 200 back (8th), senior Lexie DuChene in the 100 back (8th), freshman Corinne Yorkman in the 200 back (5th), and sophomore Allana Clarke in the 100 fly (7th).
At last year's championships, the Falcons placed tenth with a team score of 389.5, to go along with two All-Conference honorees. The greatest amount of success came individually as eight swims found their way into the top-10 in program history.
The four-day championship opens Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. MT with the 200 medley and 800 free relays. The next three days will then all start at noon MT.
