Men's Soccer Travels to UNLV

THIS WEEK
Air Force travels to UNLV to take on the Rebels at Johann Memorial Field at 6 p.m. PT, Saturday, February 20. UNLV is 0-1 on the season following their loss to Incarnate Word in their season opener.
THE SERIES
The Falcons will meet with UNLV for the 42nd time in program history. Air Force leads the all-time series, 22-16-3. In the last 11 meetings, the Falcons are 7-3-1 against the Rebels. UNLV has not beat the Falcons at USAFA since 2003-- Air Force is 10-0-1 against UNLV in the last 11 meetings at the Academy. The Rebels' last win against Air Force was the WAC Championship match in 2016.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Tristan Trager scored three goals to lead Air Force to a 3-2 win against UNLV, Saturday afternoon (Nov. 2, 2019) at Cadet Lacrosse Stadium.
Trager, a midfielder out of San Clemente, California led Air Force in shots with four on the day while teammate Lathan Spadafora recorded three shots, all on frame. As a team, the Falcons out shot UNLV, 16-15.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force blanked Western Athletic Conference newcomer Dixie State, 4-0, in their Division I debut, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 6) at Greater Zion Stadium.
The Falcons dominated the possessions, more than doubling the Trailblazer shot attempts (10-4) and quadrupling their shots on goal (8-2). Air Force's staunch defense, anchored by Jared Dove who played all 90 minutes, were effective at denying Dixie State's offense at the midfield.
AROUND THE WAC
Seattle U leads the league in shots (55), points (17), goals (6), saves (16), corners (17) and are tied with Air Force for the lead in assists (5) and with CBU, AF, UTRGV and HBU for the lead in shutouts (1).
Air Force is also tied with California Baptist and UT Rio Grande Valley for the lead in goals allowed (0) and subsequent 0.00 goals-against average.
Individually, SU's Noe Meza has the early lead in shots (12) and teammate Jesse Ortiz has the lead in goals (2) and points (4). AF's London Aghedo and UIW's Kevin Gutia are tied for the lead in points per game (3.00) while AF's Quinn Matulis and UNLV's Bailey Letherman are tied for the lead in assists (2). In net, three keepers have a perfect 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage. SU's Akili Kasim is the leader in saves (16) while UIW's Nils Roth is the leader in saves per game (8.00).
A positive COVID-19 test within the Dixie State men's soccer program forced the Trailblazers to cancel a pair of games in California. DSU's non-conference match at San Diego State on Feb. 11 and its WAC match at California Baptist on Feb. 13 were both scrapped.
Due to restrictions in Santa Clara County that did not allow San José State to practice for much of January, the Spartans have elected not to play their first two WAC games of the season. The affected matches include UIW on Feb. 6 and at Air Force on Feb. 13.
