
Air Force Cruises by CCU, 59-32

USAF ACADEMY – Air Force downed Colorado Christian, 59-32, Friday afternoon in Clune Arena. The Falcons improve to 5-13 on the season while the Cougars, who are not charged with a loss due to the exhibition status of the game, remain at 3-12.
Sophomore guard Kamri Heath led the Falcons in scoring with a personal season-high 10-point showing, knocking down 71-percent of shots from the floor (5-7). Heath rounded out her stat line with four rebounds.
Senior forward Kassady Huffman shot perfect on the day, hitting three-of-three from the floor and knocking down a pair of buckets at the charity stripe. She snagged four rebounds on the game. Senior teammate Emily Conroe and freshman Kayla Pilson picked up a game-high six rebounds apiece and combined for six points.
Junior guard Cierra Winters picked off a game-high five steals, helping the Falcons to 17 steals on the game. Winters added eight points to the final tally and a pair of rebounds and assists. She shot 57-percent from the floor. Sophomore forward Nikki McDonald led the squad with three-pointers, knocking down two-of-three attempts from deep.
CCU was led by a pair of scorers in the double-figures in Brookelyn Hurlbut and Sam Nunez with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Hurlbut picked up a team-high six rebounds while Nunez was the only player to drain a three-pointer on the team.
Next up, Air Force hangs tight at the Academy to host New Mexico in a two-game league series, Tuesday (Feb. 23) and Wednesday (Feb. 24). Tip times are slated for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
