Women’s Tennis Downed By Denver

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's tennis (1-1) dropped a 6-1 contest to Denver on Friday afternoon at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts. Sophomore Sydney Fitch posted the win for the Falcons in singles play.
The Falcons dropped all three doubles matches to open. Alex Kuo and Isabella Flodin fell at No. 1 to Taylor Melville and Hada Chang 6-3. Meredith Jones and Hailey Stelse fell at No. 2 to Anna Riedmiller and Camille Verden-Anderson 6-3. Sydney Fitch and Mebeli Becerra fell at No. 3 to Tatum Berger and Toni Nelson 6-2.
Fitch earned Air Force's point with at win at No. 3 singles over Britt Pursell, 6-2, 2-6, 10-7.
Jones fell at No. 1 to Melville 7-6, 6-0. Kuo dropped her No. 2 match to Riedmiller 6-0, 6-0. Becerra dropped her match at No. 4 to Berger 6-1, 7-6. Stelse fell at No. 5 to Chang 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. Flodin dropped her match at No. 6 to Nelson 6-0, 6-2.
"Denver is a very good team - maybe the best team we play all year," head coach Kim Gidley said. "They had everyone back from last year and we basically have a new team, so I was pleased how the team got into the singles matches and made it competitive."
Air Force returns to action Feb. 10 hosting CSU-Pueblo.
