Women’s Tennis Downed By UNLV

Air Force women's tennis (10-4, 2-2 MW) fell 4-0 to UNLV (8-5, 4-1 MW) Saturday morning in a neutral-site Mountain West dual at the Aztec Tennis Center on the San Diego State campus in San Diego, Calif.

The Falcons were unable to come away with a win as UNLV swept.

Air Force fell at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Mebeli Becerra and Sydney Fitch fell at No 3. to Zita Kovacs and Aura Fang 6-2. Alex Kuo and Isabella Flodin fell at No. 2 to Sam Smith and Connie Li 6-3.

In singles Kuo fell at No. 3 to En-Pei Huang 6-1, 6-0. Becerra fell at No. 5 to Smith 6-1, 6-2. Meredith Jones fell at No. 1 to Izumi Asano 6-4, 6-4.

The Falcons were split at No. 2 and No. 4 singles and held a 1-0 lead at No. 6 before the Rebels clinched the fourth point.

"The team came out strong after losing the doubles point by winning three first sets in singles," head coach Kim Gidley said. "It really was a matter of converting against a good team. The good news is, we get to play tomorrow and learn from today."

Air Force returns to action tomorrow, April 11, at San Diego State.
