WAC FIRST ROUND: AIR FORCE (4-4-1 WAC) vs. SAN JOSE STATE (5-1-2 WAC)
Air Force opens in its fourth-straight WAC tournament appearance against third-seeded San Jose State, at 2:30 p.m. PT, Tuesday (April 13), at Peter Johann Memorial Field in Las Vegas. THE SERIES
San Jose State is one of Air Force's longest running series with 41 meetings between the teams. The Spartans lead the all-time series, 24-12-5. Air Force has won the last two of the last three regular-season meetings, but SJSU handed the Falcons a bitter loss in between those matches, beating Air Force 1-0, and eliminating the Falcons from the WAC tournament in 2017. The Spartans won the last regular season meeting (2019), 2-0, at San Jose.
FOUR FALCONS EARN WAC POSTSEASON HONORS
The Western Athletic Conference has announced its All-WAC men's soccer teams and major awards as selected by the league's 11 head coaches. Air Force's London Aghedo was announced to the All-WAC First-Team while teammates Max Sole and Tristan Trager earned Honorable Mention nods. Freshman forward Thaddaeus Dewing was selected to the All-Freshman team.
The conference honors mark Aghedo's third league accolade since joining the program last season, where he earned an All-Freshmen nod and a WAC Honorable Mention. Trager, who was selected to the first-team last year, earned his second career accolade with the 2021 honorable mention. The honors mark a career first for Sole and Dewing.
BUSSEY WINS OPOTW
Elijah Bussey, a sophomore midfielder from Sierra Vista, Ariz., played a crucial role in the Falcons' postseason-clinching wins on the week, tallying three assists in wins over California Baptist and Houston Baptist. On Monday against CBU, he assisted twice as Air Force picked up a 4-1 win. He returned to the pitch on Friday night, assisting once as the Falcons earned a 2-1 win over Houston Baptist.
SCORE FIRST
Air Force is 4-0 when scoring first; each Falcon win this season started with Air Force scoring first.
