High Point Outscores Air Force in Home Finale, 13-8

USAF ACADEMY - Air Force dropped at 13-8 Southern Conference contests against High Point on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon at Falcon Stadium. The Falcons drop to 3-8 overall with a 2-3 mark in the league while High Point improves to 4-5, 4-1 SOCON.
The Falcons led the Panthers through the first half, holding a 6-5 advantage heading into the halftime break. A lackluster second half for Air Force yielded just two goals while High Point ran up the lead with eight goals in the second half.
Seniors Matthew O'Rourk and Ben Ward led the Falcon offensive with two goals apiece on nine shots between the two of them. Junior midfielder Brenden Crouse fired off a game-high 11 shots while sophomore teammate Ethan Grandolfo took nine, scoring a goal apiece. Crouse rounded out his stat line with an assist and a ground ball.
Freshman defender Chris Bardak notched his first collegiate goal off a face off, scoring Air Force's fourth goal to close the first quarter. Bardak also finished with a team-high four ground balls. Vince Lombardi, Quentin Carlile and James Chastain led the Air Force defense with three caused turnovers apiece.
Senior co-team captain Quincy Peene and freshman Chad Teresky served as Air Force's key facilitators with two assists each. Peene took five shots and Teresky fired off four. Both teams finished 45 shots on the game.
The Falcons' rotating face off crew, Dylan Frankhouser and Brian Michael combined for 12 wins in 22 total attempts at the center dot. Frankhouser won 7-of-11 while Michael went 5-of-11. High Point's Colin Hoben took the majority of High Point face off attempts, winning 7-of-16 on the game.
In his second start in the Air Force cage, freshman keeper Jason Rose recorded 12 saves on the day. His counterpart, Parker Green, tallied eight saves and the winning result.
The Panthers were led by Brayden Mayea's six goals on 11 shots. Teammate Asher Nolting dished out a game-high three assists and scored a goal of his own. Seven players on High Point scored goals.
Air Force's 10 seniors were honored prior to the opening faceoff. Team captains Quincy Peene and Braden Host along with teammates Noah Schwab, Gianni Orlando, Mike Matheson, Matthew O'Rourk, Sterling Ceshker, Ben Ward and Vince Lombardi concluded their careers as Falcons at Falcon Stadium.
Next up, Air Force takes on SOCON front-runner Richmond in the regular-season finale, Saturday, May 1, in Richmond, Virginia. Faceoff at Robins Stadium is slated for noon ET.
