Wyatt Hendrickson Named to Amateur Wrestling News 2021 All-Rookie Team

The freshman was one of three heavyweights recognized nationally
USAFA, Colo. – Air Force Academy freshman wrestler Wyatt Hendrickson was named to the Amateur Wrestling News 2021 All-Rookie Team, the publication announced Saturday, May 15. Hendrickson was one of three freshman heavyweights honored by "the oldest publication devoted to all phases of amateur wrestling."
Hendrickson earns the honor after putting together one of the best freshman season's in Academy history. The Newton, Kan. native went 16-5 with 11 wins via bonus points. Seven of those win were via fall.
He placed third at Big 12 Championships, and followed that up with a 3-2 weekend at NCAA Championships, finishing one win shy of earning All-American status. Hendrickson, who was AF's first freshman qualifier since 2013, became the first AF wrestler to reach the vaunted Round of 12 since Cole VonOhlen, also in 2013.
Most recently, Hendrickson won the 125 kg title at the 2021 UWW Junior Nationals and qualified to be a member of Team USA at the 2021 UWW Junior World Championships in Ufa, Russia, Aug. 16-22.
