COVID-19 Update
-Current Department of Defense and Air Force Academy policies require all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask when indoors in all Academy facilities, including the press box, Blue and Silver Club, suites, elevators and restrooms. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must also wear masks outdoors at all times while on the installation. Fans who are fully vaccinated and are not required to wear a mask when outdoors. Anyone with a COVID-19 diagnosis within the previous 10 days, or any symptoms suggestive of possible COVID-19, or a recent close contact with an individual known to be positive for COVID-19 should not come to the stadium. These policies will be constantly evaluated and any changes will be communicated.
Series History vs. Cal-Poly
-The Falcons are winless in two matchups with the Mustangs since the turn of the century, as Air Force has been outscored 4-0 in two matchups. The most recent meeting took place in 2009, where USAFA fell 1-0 at home. The series began in 2003, a 3-0 Air Force road defeat.
Home Cookin'
-Larry Friend's team makes its regular season home debut following two opening weekend matches against Colorado Cup foes, Denver and Northern Colorado. The Falcons were defeated 5-0 via the Pioneers on August 19, followed by a grinder of a game against the Bears on August 22, a scoreless overtime draw.
The Law of Averages, Right?
-Air Force has yet to find the back of the net in 25 shot attempts over its first two matches, including 13 on goal. C2C Faith Lee attempted a career-high six shots against Northern Colorado, four of which were on goal. She leads the team in total attempts (7) and attempts on goal (5).
Into the Frying Pan…
-Along with sophomore keeper Cammi Bych, the only other player for the Falcons to log all available minutes on the pitch is Kendall Ahern, a freshman defender on Coach Friend's back line. In fact, the Falcons' influx of first-year players have been key contributors early on, with 11 of the 13 freshmen on the roster having recorded at least 26 minutes, while Jenna Rubidoux, Jessie Boult, and Hannah Johnson have been on the pitch for at least 126 minutes over the Falcons first two matches.
One This Week, One Next Week
-Cal Poly marks the lone game this week, as the Falcons begin an East Coast road trip on Thursday, September 9 when Air Force plays at George Mason, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 PM MT.
