Farmer leads Falcons on final day of GMFI

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Senior Jonathan Farner led the Air Force golf team on the final day of the 52nd annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Academy's Eisenhower Blue Course. Farmer shot 73 on the final day.
UC Davis won the team competition with a tournament record 831 (-33). The Aggies broke the record of 835 set by Wyoming in 2017. Nevada was second (855), Denver was third (856), Weber State was fourth (859) and Wyoming was fifth (861). Air Force was 20th at 925. The Falcons' 302 on the final day was its best of the tournament.
UCD's Thomas Hutchison won the individual title with a tournament record 201 (-15). He broke the record set by Wyoming's John Murdock of 202 (-14) in 2017. Hutchison also holds both the tournament and course record at 62, shot the second day of the tournament. Weber State's Reese Fisher and CSU-Northridge's Blake Brothers tied for second at 206 (-10). Junior Isaac Layne was the top Falcon at 230. Farmer came in at 231, Aaron Kuznik and Luke Trujillo shot 232 and freshman Christopher Park shot 236.
In the individual event on the Silver Course, Colorado's Jack Hughes won with a score of 209 (-7). San Jose State's Vijay Srinivasan was second at 210 while Nevada's Connor Motherway was third at 212. Freshman Cameron Kahle was the top Falcon on the Silver Course, placing 22nd with a 224 (+8). In the final round, he shot a one-under-par 71. Senior Colter Baca tied for 25th with a 225 (+9). Freshman Christopher Ehrenberger shot 231, sophomore Max Heupel shot 233 and junior Patrick Erwin shot 239.
Air Force travels north on I-25 for the annual CSU Ram Masters, Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 20-21, in Fort Collins, Colo.
