Falcons travel to CSU Ram Masters

THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team travels north on I-25 for the annual CSU Ram Masters, Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 20-21, at the Fort Collins Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
THE FIELD: Along with Air Force and the host school, Colorado State, the 16-team field includes Cal State Fullerton, Creighton, Grand Canyon, Illinois State, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, Pacific, Sacramento State, South Dakota, UC San Diego, Utah State, Utah Valley, Wichita State and Wyoming.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 70, 7,218-yard
Fort Collins Country Club. Golfers will play 36 holes in a shotgun start on Monday. Pairings for Tuesday's tee times for the final 18 holes, will be determined by team score. The low four individual scores will determine the team scores for each round.
AIR FORCE AT THE CSU RAM MASTERS: Air Force has played in the CSU Ram Masters five times, most recently in 2019. Air Force's top finish was fourth place in 2016. The 2019 team placed 11th.
LAST WEEK: Senior Jonathan Farmer led the Air Force golf team on the final day of the 52nd annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Sept. 12. Farmer shot 73 on the final day. UC Davis won the team competition with a tournament record 831 (-33. Nevada was second (855) and Denver was third (856). Air Force was 20th at 925. The Falcons' 302 on the final day was its best of the tournament. UCD's Thomas Hutchison won the individual title with a tournament record 201 (-15). Junior Isaac Layne was the top Falcon at 230. Farmer came in at 231, Aaron Kuznik and Luke Trujillo shot 232 and freshman Christopher Park shot 236. In the individual event on the Silver Course, Colorado's Jack Hughes won with a score of 209 (-7). Freshman Cameron Kahle was the top Falcon on the Silver Course, placing 22nd with a 224 (+8). In the final round, he shot a one-under-par 71. Senior Colter Baca tied for 25th with a 225 (+9). Freshman Christopher Ehrenberger shot 231, sophomore Max Heupel shot 233 and junior Patrick Erwin shot 239.
TYLER GOULDING NAMED INTERIM COACH: Former Falcon standout Tyler Goulding is the interim golf coach. A 2007 Academy graduate, Goulding has spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach to George Koury, who recently was named associate athletic director for recruiting at the Academy. As a member of the Academy's golf team, Goulding was a two-time team captain (2006, 2007) and three-time MVP (2005, 2006, 2007). He did not miss an event in four years, posting 15 top-10 finishes. A two-time all-conference selection, he completed his final three years with stroke averages of 72.8 (senior), 73.0 (junior) and 72.9 (sophomore). Goulding returned to the Academy in the summer of 2016 after spending three seasons as an assistant at the University of Southern California.
