SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Iowa (1-6), which will face Incarnate Word in the morning match of the Mile High Invitational on Friday, picked up its first victory of the season on Sept. 11, when it swept in-state rival Iowa State at the Cy-Hawk Series Tournament in Coralville. Two of the Hawkeyes' losses have come from teams currently ranked in the AVCA Top 25, including No. 7 Washington and No. 25 Colorado. Incarnate Word, which will split two Friday matches between the Academy and Denver before its match against the Falcons on Saturday, enter the tournament at .500 (5-5) after a 3-1 loss at TCU on Sept. 14. Last weekend, the Cardinals went 1-1 at the Texas Rio Grande Valley Tournament, falling to host UTRGV and downing Louisiana in five.
HISTORY 101
This is the Falcons' first meetings with both Iowa and Incarnate Word. Conference-wise, the Falcons are 1-5 against teams from the Big 10 and 8-7 against squads from the Southland.
TIME SET FOR SEPT 25 MATCH
The Falcons' home match against Fresno State on Saturday, Sept. 25, has been set for a 12:00 p.m. (MT) start, following the announcement that the Air Force football game will have an evening kickoff.
IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME
With its victory over Fullerton on Sept. 11, Air Force improved to 14-12 in home openers at the DI level.
WELCOME BACK
Fans are invited back to Air Force Volleyball matches this fall, but current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks outside on military installations.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force opens the conference season next week with a pair of matches. The Falcons will travel to New Mexico to face the Lobos on Tuesday, Sept. 21, before welcoming Fresno State to the Academy on Saturday, Sept. 25.
