Current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks outside on military installations.
A LOOK AT THE SPARTANS
San Jose State has a pair of wins over CSU Bakersfield and UC Davis, putting up a season-best five goals against Davis. The Spartans played No. 20 Stanford to a scoreless draw on September 11. They are currently on a three-match losing streak. Air Force and SJSU have no common opponents thus far.
Miranda Willy leads the squad with three goals this season while three other players have two goals apiece. As a team, SJSU has scored 12 goals this season, one more than Air Force.
THE SERIES
San Jose State is one of Air Force's longest running series with 42 meetings between the teams. The Spartans lead the all-time series, 24-13-5. Air Force won the last meeting in the 2020-21 WAC Tournament, but SJSU won the last regular-season meeting, played at San Jose in 2019. The last time the teams met at USAFA (2018), Air Force cruised by SJSU, 4-0.
LAST TIME THEY PLAYED
Air Force battled back from an early two-goal deficit to defeat San Jose State in the final penalty kick, 2-2 (4-3 PK), in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference tournament on a windy Tuesday afternoon at Peter Johann Memorial Field, Las Vegas. Kainoa Likewise was the difference maker as he made an incredible PK save to fend off the Spartans.
UP NEXT
The Falcons hit the road to take on WAC newcomer, Chicago State, on Friday, October 20. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT, at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois.
