Former football great reflects on 9/11

Tim Jefferson was in middle school on Sept. 11, 2001. Upon hearing what happened that day, he set his sights on serving his country and ended up at the Air Force Academy.
Jefferson went on to become the first quarterback in school history to start in four bowl games. Jefferson burst on the scene as a freshman in 2008, becoming the starter early in the season and helping to lead the program to 28 wins over the next four years. He also led the team to a pair of Armed Forces Bowls (2008, 2009), the 2010 Independence Bowl and the 2011 Military Bowl.
Jefferson's name appears more in the Air Force career passing records more than any other quarterback. He ranks third in school history in career total offense (6,587), fourth in most plays (1,011), fourth in winning percentage (.636), sixth in pass attempts (515), fifth in pass completions (290), fifth in completion percentage (.563) fourth in passing efficiency (146.12), third in passing yards (4,599), fourth in pass interception avoidance (.034) and second in touchdown passes (34). He is the winningest starting quarterback in school history with 28 wins.
Jefferson attended undergraduate pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss., graduating in 2013. His first assignment was at Columbus as a T-6 instructor at the 37th Flying Training Squadron.
He is currently a T-38 instructor pilot at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He recently visiting with Brian Jerman of Falcon Vision about his decision.
