Falcons Upended By Montana, 4-3

Air Force men's tennis dropped a 4-3 contest at Montana Sunday afternoon in Missoula, Mont. The Falcons completed a three-match weekend to open the Spring season.

Trailing 3-1, the Falcons had just rallied back to tie the match up at 3-3 after wins at No. 2 by Jonathan Mascagni and No 5 singles by Arjun Kersten. The match came down to three sets at No. 6 singles. Kyle Garner was unable to hold off Milo Benn, as Benn rallied back for the 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 win and clinching match for the Grizzlies.

The Falcons had singles wins from senior Robert Baylon, junior Jonathan Mascagni and Kersten, a freshman. Baylon won in straight sets at No. 1 over Ed Pudney 6-3, 6-3. Mascagni won at No. 2 over Oisin Shaffrey 7-5, 7-6 (8-6). Kersten won in straight sets over Sam Baldwin 6-2, 6-2.

The Falcons had on win in doubles, with Nick Vroman and Justin Waldman winning at No. 3 over Pontus Hallgren/Benn 6-4.

Air Force's next eight scheduled matches will be at home, beginning Friday, Jan. 21, hosting Creighton.
