Alan Long was named the program's Boxer of the Week.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Sixteen members of the Air Force boxing team stepped into the ring on Jan. 28, as the squad closed out this season's slate of Friday Night Fights with eight hard-fought bouts. With an impressive RSC victory at 172 pounds, junior Alan Long earned the first Boxer of the Week award of the 2022 calendar year.
Long, competing in the second of two bouts in that weight class, forced the referee to halt his bout with Keillan Laurenceau in the third round. Andew Ison earned the victory in the night's other 172-pound contest, as he took the judges' decision from Robert Marzicola. Ison was one of five men to earn wins by decision. Noah Lewis earned a split decision victory over Jordan Dutcher in the 140-pound bout, while Jacob Mendoza (182 pounds, Joe Wilson), Luke Kohout (162 pounds, Sydney Reyes) and Michael Scully (160 pounds, Nile Owens) all earned unanimous decisions.
Both bouts on the women's side of the card also featured unanimous decisions, as Katie Bush earned the victory over Ymani Nesmith at 170 pounds and Katie Bush defeated Billie Botes in a 159-pound showdown.
The Falcons return to action next weekend (Feb. 4-5), when they travel to Seattle for the WAC Main Event.
