
Falcon Swimming Opens Dual Action with Pair of Tri-Meets

The Air Force men's and women's swim and dive teams open Cadet Natatorium for the first time this season as the Falcons host to Colorado-Mines and Nebraska Omaha, Friday (Oct. 14). Action is slated to begin at 6 p.m. MT. On Saturday (Oct. 15), the teams travel to Denver to take on the University of Denver and Louisiana State in El Pomar Natatroium. Action is slated for 1 p.m. MT.
The women's swim team is coming in hot off a successful swim and second-place finish at the Intermountain Shootout, September 30. The Falcons were exceptional in their relay races as they claimed a share of the top-three in each relay event, highlighted by first place finishes in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. The Falcons had relay teams place second and third in the 200 free relay, and second in the 400 medley relay.
Individually, Air Force's MVP from last season, Corbyn Cormack, led the Falcons with a pair of first place finishes in the 100 IM (59.03) and 100 fly (56.61). Freshman Zoe Bresnahan had an exceptional performance, tallying 45 team points for the Falcons with third, fourth and fifth placings in the 1,000 free (10:35.19), the 400 IM (4:35.93), and the 500 free (5:12.32), respectively. Bresnahan was tabbed MW Freshman of the Week for her performance.
Men's swimming swam to a third-place finish of a field of six at the season opening Intermountain Shootout, Friday and Saturday (Sept. 30) at the El Pomar Natatorium in Grand Junction, Colorado. Air Force saw two first-place finishes and 11 finishes in the top three.
The WAC's 2021-22 swimmer of the year Wen Zhang was in midseason form with four individual top-three finishes in four events highlighted by a pair of first-place finishes. Zhang raced to first in the 200 free (1:38.09) and 100 free (44.38). He finished second in the 500 free (4:34.67) and 50 free (20.30). Each time marked a Div. II B-Cut.
Grant Afman and Joseph Moore had solid showings in the pool with a pair of podium finishes each. Afman placed second in the 50 fly (22.41) and third in the 100 fly (24.10). Moore placed third in the 200 (1:54.51) fly and 400 IM (4:09.62).

Both the men's and women's squads travel to Laramie, Wyoming, to take on the University of Wyoming in dual action. Swimming is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. MT at Laramie High School.
