USAFA, Colo.- A back-and-forth match that saw both sides nearly break the deadlock, Air Force and Colorado State fought to a scoreless draw.
"I was really proud of the collective effort our team gave tonight," said head coach Laura Busby. "I thought Sydney Davis was phenomenal in goal and we created enough chances at the other end to win the game."
Falcons goalie Sydney Davis was superb, stopping a career-high nine shots on goal. Davis' performance included a pair of tremendous yet necessary saves.
Caeli Sherman took credence to her forward position, totaling a game-high four shots on goal. Peyton Ferrell nearly found the the back of the net in the 3rd minute, though her effort was turned away by Rams keeper Emilie Gavillet. In the 11th minute, Eleanor Musgrove came ever so close to a score as well, just sending a right-footed shot just left of the near post.
Air Force managed 15 total shots, six of which were on target.
The Falcons seemingly controlled the possession and momentum following the initial whistle, though the Rams began to retake the tempo of the match as the minutes progressed. Davis' career-best performance was crucial to the Falcons picking up a point.
"All I can ask for is growth on a daily basis and tonight was a step in the right direction," Busby said. "We have a big opportunity on Sunday to play for our seniors and pick up the result we deserve."
Air Force will honor its senior class on Sunday, October 16 prior to the Falcons contest with Wyoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm MT.
