Falcons place second in tri-meet

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – For the second straight day, the second-ranked Air Force rifle team placed second in a tri-meet against No. 2 (tied) West Virginia and No. 19 UTEP, Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Academy's Cadet Rifle Range.

West Virginia won the meet with a score of 4715, while Air Force was second (4690) and UTEP was third (4568)

Sophomore Lauren Hurley was the top individual, posting an aggregate score of 1181, a new career high. Junior Morgan Kreb was fourth at 1177. Freshman Victoria Leppert and senior Jordan Williams tied for ninth (1164).

Air Force posted the top two scores in smallbore as Kreb shot a career-best 590 and Hurley shot a career-best 585. Williams and Dante Aletto each shot 578 and Leppert shot 574.Hurley shot the best air rifle score of the day with a 596. Leppert shot 590, followed by Kreb (587), Williams (586) and Aletto (581).

Air Force (2-3 overall) travels to Nebraska for a pair of duals, Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 22-23, at 8 am each day in Lincoln, Neb.
