No. 11 Air Force rifle travels to No. 13 Nebraska

This Week: Air Force, ranked 11th in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association national poll, travels to No. 13 Nebraska for a pair of duals, Oct. 22-23, in Lincoln, Neb. The match will begin at 8 am CT each day. Live scoring will be available at MegaLink.
More on the Opponents: Nebraska is 2-0 this season after opening with a pair of wins over The Citadel and Georgia Southern. The Cornhuskers' highest score of the season came in the opener against The Citadel with a 4703-4624 win. Last season, Nebraska placed fifth in the Patriot Rifle Conference, one spot behind the Falcons. Air Force defeated Nebraska three times last season, scoring over 4700 in each match. In the final dual of the 2021-22 season, Air Force defeated Nebraska, 4717-4678.
World Championships Update: Sophomore Scott Rockett earned a bronze medal competing for Team USA at the 2022 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. A member of the 10-meter junior air rifle team, Rockett, along with Rylan Kissell and Benjamin Salas, defeated Austria in the bronze medal match. India won the gold while China won the silver. While in Egypt, Rockett also placed 10th in the 50-meter prone junior individual competition. Rockett placed ninth in individual junior men's air rifle, Oct. 19, just missing the finals by one spot. Rockett shot a 626.9, missing the finals by just 0.3 points. D'Souza placed 33rd in individual junior women's air rifle with a score of 623.6, missing the finals by just four points.
Individual Top Marks: Several Falcons posted career-best marks against West Virginia and UTEP, Oct. 16. Sophomore Lauren Hurley set a new career high in aggregate score at 1181. In smallbore, junior Morgan Kreb shot a career-best 590 and Hurley shot a career-best 585 in smallbore. Junior Dante Aletto matched his career-bet in smallbore at 578.
Team Top Marks: Air Force posted its best marks of the season in the opener against TCU with a 4723 in aggregate, 2338 in smallbore and 2385 in air rifle.
Last Week: Air Force split a pair of dual meets against No. 2 West Virginia and No. 19 UTEP, Oct. 15-16, at the Academy's Cadet Rifle Range. West Virginia won the first meet with an aggregate score of 4714, Air Force was second at 4682 and UTEP was third at 4563. On day two, West Virginia won with a score of 4715, while Air Force was second (4690) and UTEP was third (4568).
