Golfers close out fall schedule in Maui

THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team closes out the fall schedule by traveling to the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs Friday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Maui. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
THE FORMAT: Golfers will play 18 holes each day during the three day-54 hole tournament. The standard five-play, four-count format will be used. Teams will tee off at 8:00 am HT (noon MT) each day in a shotgun start. The Royal Ka'anapali Course is a par 71 and plays at 6,700 yards.
LAST SEASON IN MAUI: Air Force shot an 893 last season at the Ka'anapali Classic and placed 14th. Cameron Kahle was the top Falcon with a 217 (+4). Christopher Park shot 233 and Isaac Layne shot 236. Kansas won the tournament with an 800, followed by Colorado at 820.
THE FIELD: In addition to the host school Hawai'i, and Air Force, the 20-team field includes: Boise State, Clemson, Colorado, Connecticut, CSU-Northridge, Denver, East Tennessee State, No 20 Georgia, Gonzaga, Kansas, Liberty, Louisiana, Mississippi, Mount Saint Mary's, No. 29 North Florida, No. 11 Oklahoma, UC Irvine and Wyoming. The tournament features eight of the top 60 teams in the nation.
THE LINEUP: The Air Force lineup this week is: 1. Alvaro Fonseca; 2. Isaac Layne; 3. Brooks Morrell; 4. Cameron Kahle; 5. Christopher Park.
LAST WEEK: Senior Isaac Layne shot a 74 (+2) to lead the Air Force golf team in the final round of the TPC Colorado at Heron Lakes, Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Berthoud, Colo. Layne made four birdies on the day to post his best score of the three-day tournament. Layne played the par-5's in two-under-par, tied as the 12th best in the tournament. He also made 12 birdies in the tournament, the seventh most among all players. Freshman Alvaro Fonseca was the top Falcon at the tournament, tying for 28th overall with a score of 223 (+7). Fonseca made 36 pars, tied for sixth among all players. Layne was second on the team at 232, followed by Cameron Kahle (233), Brooke Morrell (234) and Christopher Park (241). Air Force placed 10th with a 916. Colorado State won the tournament with an 852, followed by BYU at 856.
