Joe Wilson was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week following an RSC win.
DETROIT, Mich. – Juniors Joe Wilson and Andrew Ison claimed victories over their service academy counterparts on Friday, Oct. 28, as the Air Force boxing team faced off against Navy and Army West Point at the annual Chuck Davey Invitational in Detroit.
Wilson earned the program's Boxer of the Week award after forcing the referee to halt his 180-pound bout with Enoch Horning of Army West Point in the second round. Ison also claimed a victory at the Detroit Athletic Club on Friday, as he decisioned Navy's Kenny Wilkerson at 170 pounds.
Overall, the Falcons went 1-2 against the other academies. Senior Jordan Dutcher and junior Madigan Starr fell to boxers from Navy, while junior Nile Owens and sophomore Robert Marzicola suffered setbacks to contenders from Army West Point.
The Falcons are back in action next Friday (Nov. 4) for a rematch with Army West Point in Arlington, Texas.
