Air Force offers solid showing to start Phill Hansel Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas- After the first day of competition at the Phill Hansel Invitational, Air Force sits third with 347 team points, trailing Houston (536.5) and Rice (351).
"What an amazing start to our meet," said head coach Colleen Murphy. "Our 500 freestylers started us off so well and we built momentum throughout the day."
On the topic of the 500Y Freestyle, Katelyn Andrist's preliminary time of 4:52.06 becomes the third-fastest time in the event in program history. She eventually finished seventh in the final round, clocking in at 5:00.06. Zoe Bresnahan also cracked Air Force's all-time top-ten in the event, as she now sits in ninth in the 500Y Freestyle following a time of 4:56.65 in the preliminary round.
Abby Turner placed third in the 50Y Free, as her time of 23.18 becomes the fourth-fastest finish in program history. Hanani Dona placed 21st in the 200Y IM, though the freshman now owns a share of the ninth-best event time after finishing her second race in 2:04.72.
The Falcons 200Y Free Relay team of Turner, Ayame Castel, Corbyn Cormack, and Raquelle Roesch placed fourth, clocking in at 1:33.73. Cormack also placed fourth in the 200Y IM (2:01.50). Turner and Cormack joined Kai-Min Tsuei and Kimmy Woolfenden to race to a third-place finish in the 400Y Medley Relay after finishing with a time of 3:44.96.
Gabrielle Peltier, Anna Scofield, and Grace Treanor participated in the one-meter dive, as Peltier led the Falcons with a seventh place title with a score of 249.50. Scofield was given a 247.00, while Treanor was judged for a 241.40.
"We're so excited for the next two days as our team builds off of a great start," said Murphy.
Air Force resumes action at the Phill Hansel Invitational tomorrow, with the preliminary rounds beginning at 9:00 am MT before the final rounds resume at 5:00 pm MT.
