Falcons stand out yet again at Phill Hansel Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas- AIr Force has wrapped up Day Two at the Phill Hansel Invitational on the campus of the University of Houston, as the Falcons maintained solid form in a variety of swims.
"It was another great night for our team in Houston," said head coach Colleen Murphy. "This team is rising to the occasion and finishing every race so well."
It was another big night for Abby Turner, as the sophomore's time of 1:49.03 in the 200Y Freestyle rewarded her with a second place finish. Turner concluded the race with the third-fastest time in the 200Y Freestyle in Air Force history.
"She is on fire," said Murphy. "She continues to improve in every race she swims, so we're excited for her 100 free tomorrow."
Turner also competed in the 200Y Medley and 800Y Freestyle relays, helping her team to second and third place finishes in said events, respectively. Corbyn Cormack also swam as part of the 200Y Medley Relay and produced her own individual merit in the 100Y Butterfly. Cormack finished second with a time of 54.35.
The remaining swimmers in the 200Y Medley Relay, Kimmy Woolfenden and Kai-Min Tsuei, also produced in their respective races. Woolfenden placed seventh in the 100Y Breaststroke after ending the race in 1:03.49, while Tsuei placed fifth in the 100Y Backstroke, timing out at 55.47. Tsuei now sits fifth all-time in Falcons history in the event.
Zoe Bresnahan and Hanani Dona each improved upon their top-ten Mountain West times in the 400Y IM. Bresnahan entered the weekend with a season-best finish of 4:29.44, easily clearing that hurdle with a 10th place finish with a time of 4:23.49. Dona was narrowly behind her teammate with a time of 4:23.82, good for 11th.
Bresnahan and Dona now own two of the top-six times in program history in the 400Y IM.
"We are so proud of their grit and determination," said Murphy. "We're having an amazing meet."
Air Force will conclude its time at the Phill Hansel Invitational tomorrow when the preliminary rounds begin at 9:00 am MT. The championship rounds are scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm MT.
