HOUSTON, Texas- The Air Force women's swimming and diving team concluded its journey at the Phill Hansel Invitational, as the Falcons soared to a second-place finish following the third and final day of competition.
"It was a great week of swimming for our team," said head coach Colleen Murphy. "With just a little bit of rest, our team rose to the occasion and competed extremely well."
Air Force managed to earn a win in the platform dive, as Gabrielle Peltier scored a 251.60 to place first overall the event.
In the 1650Y Freestyle, Katelyn Andrist swam with conviction, placing third in the event with a time of 16:39.54. Andrist's performance earned her the third-fastest time in the event in program history. Zoe Bresnahan maintained her standout status with a fifth-place finish in the race, touching out at 16:39.54. Her finish is now the fifth-fastest 1650Y Freestyle time in program history.
Both Corinne Yorkman and Kai-Min Tsuei qualified for the championship round in the 200Y Backstroke. Yorkman placed fifth, completing the race in 2:00.30, while Tsuei placed eighth after clocking in at 2:01.93.
Abby Turner continues to make waves in the pool, as she added a third-place in the 100Y Freestyle to punctuate to her remarkable weekend. The sophomore ended her swim with a time of 50.59.
Hanani Dona again penned her name into the Air Force record book as the result of her 10th place finish in the 200Y Butterfly. Dona's finish of 2:01.98 is now the fourth-best time in the event in program history.
"This team has made a decision to compete at the highest level," said Murphy. "We're so excited for second half of our season and continuing our rise in the Mountain West."
Next, the Falcons will have to wait until Friday, December 2 when Air Force travels to Albuquerque for double-dual action against New Mexico and Colorado State.
