The Falcons saw six ball carriers combine for 359 yards on 71 attempts. Fullback Brad Roberts accounted for 184 yards on 37 carries, including a 34-yard score in the 2nd quarter. In the 1st quarter, Roberts became one of only three players in Air Force history to record at least 600 carries and the first fullback to accomplish the feat. Now with 1,425 rushing yards this season, Roberts is also the only player in program history to have 1,300+ rushing yards in multiple seasons.
DeAndre Hughes finished with 72 yards and a touchdown on six carries, while Johnny Lee Eldridge III totaled 50 yards on six carries with a score.
Quarterback Haaziq Daniels did not complete either of his two pass attempts, though he did finish with 24 yards on the ground as the result of nine carries.
The Air Force defense consistently collapsed the opposing pocket, leading to seven sacks. In his final game at Falcon Stadium, LB Vince Sanford mustered a career-high four sacks while DT Peyton Zdroik was credited with a pair. Zdroik now has at least one tackle for loss in five-consecutive games.
The Falcons allowed a mere 65 yards on the ground as the Rams averaged just 3.0 yards per carry.
Air Force won the coin toss and deferred to the second half, leading to the Falcons holding Colorado State to a four-play opening drive. The Falcons offense set the tone early, as Air Force's first possession evolved into a 15-play, 80-yard drive with Hughes finding the endzone from 11 yards out. The Falcons chewed up 9:24 off the clock prior to taking an initial 7-0 lead.
The Falcons forced the Rams into three-consecutive punts to open the game.
On Air Force's third drive, Roberts' 34-yard score punctuated a 9-play, 69-yard drive to give the Falcons a 14-0 lead. A Matthew Dapore 44-yard field goal as the opening half expired extended the Air Force lead to 17-0 at the break.
The Falcons offense was forced into a three-and-out on its opening drive of the second half, though regained its momentum midway through the 3rd quarter. A 12-play, 72-yard drive concluded with Eldridge III running into the endzone from four yards out, as Air Force led 24-0 with 4:03 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
The Rams managed to find the endzone twice in their final three drives, though the deficit created by the Falcons was too large to overcome.
Air Force will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, November 26 as the Falcons travel to San Diego State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm MT.
