Air Force Downed At UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Air Force men's basketball (10-12, 3-8 MW) fell at UNLV (14-10, 6-5 MW), 78-44, in Mountain West action Tuesday night at Thomas & Mack Center.
Guard Bryce Hamilton scored 24 points to lead the Rebels and forward Royce Hamm Jr. notched a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Jordan McCabe added 10 assists.
Freshman guard Ethan Taylor returned from injury to lead the Falcons in scoring with 10 points. Taylor hit a pair of three's and added two rebounds in 37 minutes. Freshman guard Jake Heidbreder scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds. Freshman guard Jeffrey Mills added six points and freshman center Lucas Moerman scored five. In all, the Air Force freshmen accounted for 31 of the teams's 44 points.
The Falcons started out strong, jumping ahead 15-9 eight minutes into the game. UNLV countered with a 10-0 run to take control of the game. Air Force struggled to get buckets the rest of half, getting held to three field goals the remaining 12 minutes of the first half to trail 39-25 at the break.
Air Force continued its offensive struggles in the second half, getting held to 25 percent shooting in the latter half.
Freshman Ryan Corner scored his first-career points and freshman Byron Brown made his collegiate debut for the Falcons.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Feb. 12, at San Diego State. The game tips at 5 pm PT and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
