USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's tennis opens play the 2022 Mountain West Women's Tennis Championships against fourth-seeded UNLV on Thursday, April 28. The MW Championships runs April 27-30 at the El Conquistador Tucson, in Tucson, Ariz.
A QUICK LOOK AT AIR FORCE: Air Force enters the tournament as the five-seed and will take on UNLV in the quarterfinals after a first-round bye. The Falcons are 17-7 on the season and went 6-4 in conference play. The six conference wins are the most in the MW era (previous record was four). The Falcons are in its 13th consecutive winning season, the longest streak of any team in Academy history.
Air Force is led by All-MW selections senior Vivian Glozman and freshman Karina Chao. Glozman, who earned All-MW singles and doubles, enters the tournment with a 53-6 overall record, including a 18-0 record in duals singles and 21-1 record in duals doubles. Glozman became the first Falcon in program history to go undefeated in both singles (7-0) and doubles (10-0) in MW play. Chao, who earned All-MW doubles, leads the Falcons in wins with a 64-9 record. She went 30-6 in singles and 34-3 in doubles. Chao teamed with Glozman for the perfect 10-0 mark in doubles in MW play. The duo is 24-1 together in doubles.
A QUICK LOOK AT UNLV: UNLV enters the tournament with a 17-5 overall record and 7-3 mark in MW play. Zita Kovacs leads the Rebels with a 22-9 record in singles, including a 16-5 mark at No. 2 singles in duals competition. Aura Fang and CoCo Zhao lead the doubles group with a 16-5 record and 14-3 doubles record in duals competition at No. 3 doubles.
LAST MEETING: The Falcons closed out the regular season with a 4-3 setback to UNLV on April 23.
LAST TIME AT MW CHAMPIONSHIPS: Air Force last participated in the MW Championships in 2019, held in San Diego, Califl.. The #2 Falcons went 1-1, defeating #7 Utah State 4-1 in the quarterfinals before falling to #3 San Diego State 4-2 in the semifinals.
