Bryce Lentz Set for World U20 Championships

CALI, Colombia - Bryce Lentz will cap his stellar freshman season this week, as he represents Team USA in the steeplechase at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia. The six-day event, which features over 1500 athletes from 141 countries, began this morning (Aug 1) and will be held at Pascual Guerro Olympic Stadium.

The opening rounds of the 3000-meter steeplechase will take place at 9:35 a.m. (local, GMT-5), on Wednesday, Aug 3, while the top athletes will advance to the finals on Saturday, Aug 6, at 5:00 p.m.

Lentz, who won the gold medal at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships to earn a spot on the national team, is the reigning Mountain West champion in that event and ran the third-fastest steeplechase in Air Force history following an 8:39.73 performance at the NCAA West Prelim. After winning the USATF U20 title by nearly four seconds at Hayward Field in late June, Lentz became the program's second World Athletics U20 Championship competitor in five years (Hunter Boyer, steeplechase/2018).
