Falcons taken down 5-0 by Huskies

"I have to give credit to Washington for playing a great match and finishing their chances," said head coach Laura Busby. "I thought we battled in the second half but the game is 90 minutes and we need to bring that intensity every time we step on the field."
Air Force was quickly on the back foot, seeing Washington's Kala McDaniel put away the first goal of the afternoon in the fourth minute. The Huskies proceeded to score six minutes later and just before halftime, as a goal in the 42nd minute placed Air Force at a 3-0 halftime disadvantage.
Washington added two more goals over the game's final 45 minutes, creating the 5-0 final score.
The Falcons attack struggled to create and keep possession, as Air Force managed just one shot on goal in three attempts. Faith Lee's try in the 16th minute was the Falcons only shot to force action from Washington goalkeeper Olivia Sekany. Andrea Mosher and Katheryn Wotta were also credited for a shot each.
In contrast, the Huskies totaled 19 shots, 11 of which were on goal. Washington was consistently on the attack, creating seven corner kicks to just one for Air Force.
Air Force returns to action on Friday, hosting service academy rival Army on Friday, August 26.
"We'll learn from our mistakes and make sure we're prepared to give a complete performance against Army this Friday," said Busby. "I can't wait for the opportunity to showcase our talent in front of our home crowd."
