
Bryce Lentz Wraps Season at World U20 Championships

Lentz finished seventh in his qualifying heat of the 3000-meter steeplechase.
CALI, Colombia - Rising Air Force sophomore Bryce Lentz capped his first international competition with a 21st-place finish in the qualifying round of the 3000-meter steeplechase this morning (Aug. 3) at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.
Finishing the race in a time of 9:07.67, Lentz finished seventh in his heat and 21st in the full 38-runner field of world competitors from 26 countries. The top 15 finishers from this morning's preliminary round advanced to the final this weekend.
Lentz's participation as a Team USA member at the World Athletics U20 Championships capped a tremendous freshman season that included a conference title, an appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, a USATF U20 gold medal and the third-fastest steeplechase in Academy history – an 8:39.73 that marked the eighth-fastest time by a World U20 athlete this year.
