Falcons Set to Open MW Action on the Road

Air Force will travel to Utah State (Sept. 22) and Boise State (Sept. 24) this week.
The Air Force volleyball team opens the Mountain West portion of the season this weekend with a pair of road matches at Utah State (Sept. 22) and Boise State (Sept. 24).
MATCH INFORMATION
Air Force will face Utah State at the Wayne Estes Center in Logan, Utah, on Thursday, Sept. 22, before traveling to Boise, Idaho to take on Boise State in Bronco Gym on Saturday, Sept. 24. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Utah State is 8-3 on the year, with two of their three losses coming against Top 10 teams. The Aggies, who split a pair of road contests at Utah (0-3 loss) and Weber State (3-2 win) last weekend, were receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll after upsetting 12th-ranked UCLA at the Wayne Estes Center earlier this season. Boise State, which will host New Mexico on Thursday night, also enters the weekend with an 8-3 mark. The Broncos are coming off a 1-2 weekend, as a 3-1 victory over North Texas was bookended by losses to Montana State (2-3) and Washington (0-3).
BY THE NUMBERS
Air Force is 5-11 all-time against Utah State, while holding a 5-16 lifetime mark against Boise State. The Falcons have claimed two victories in Logan, but have never beaten the Broncos in Boise. Air Force is also 4-19 in Mountain West openers, with its last league-opening victory coming against Utah State in 2019.

Joi Harvey is ranked among the top 20 in NCAA Division I with a 1.44 blocks-per-set average (18th). Her 69 total blocks are ranked fourth in the nation, while her 10 solo stops are tied for fourth and her 56 assisted stops are tied for eighth.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Air Force is currently ranked second in the conference in blocks-per-set (2.54), while also holding top-five rankings in opponent hitting (.180, third), service aces (1.88, third) and team hitting (.224, fifth). Individually, Joi Harvey leads the league in hitting (.423) and blocking (1.44), while Caroline Reinkensmeyer is listed sixth in aces with a 0.42 per-set average.

Air Force returns to Cadet East Gym for a pair of conference contests. The Falcons will host Colorado State at 6:00 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, Sept. 29, before welcoming Wyoming to the Academy for Alumni Day at 4:00 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, Oct. 1.
