Air Force women's basketball, following a historic campaign a season ago in which the Falcons clinched their first-ever postseason berth and subsequent victory, prepares to aim for further success in 2022-23.
The Falcons will open the upcoming season on the road at Denver on November 7, marking one of three in-state foes Air Force will meet in its first four matchups. The Falcons will also host Adams State on November 16 before traveling to Colorado on November 19. The Falcons are scheduled to make their home debut on November 11 when Navy visits Colorado Springs for the first time since 2018.
Chris Gobrecht, the reigning Mountain West Coach of the Year, will accompany her team to Estero, Fla. where the Falcons have accepted a bid to play in the annual Gulf Coast Showcase. Air Force is scheduled to play Michigan in the opening round of the tournament, scheduled for November 25.
Air Force's non-conference schedule will resume on December 1 following the team's trip to Florida, though the opponent is still to be determined. Air Force will host UTEP on December 4, as well as UCCS on December 7 and Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State) on December 10. The Falcons will close the remaining slate of non-conference games on the road against Northwestern on December 17 before rerouting to Stillwater, Okla. to play the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on December 20. Air Force and Northwestern will meet for the first time in either program's history, while the Falcons and Cowgirls have not matched up since 2007.
The Falcons open conference play at home against Utah State on December 29. Air Force's Mountain West home schedule includes such contests as Wyoming on January 11, Fresno State on January 14, San Jose State on January 16, Colorado State on January 28, UNLV on February 4, Boise State on February 16, New Mexico on February 23, and finally Nevada on February 25.
The Mountain West Tournament is slated for March 5-8 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev. A season ago, the Falcons clinched their first-ever first round bye before defeating Nevada to qualify for the semifinal round for the first time in program history.
