
Falcons stay at home to host five-team invite

Last Time Out (Women's)
-Air Force, hosting Wyoming, Northern Colorado, and Colorado School of Mines, defeated all three of its foes at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons team score of 1567.0 bested the field following the weekend quad meet.
-A total team effort, the Falcons claimed first-place wins in 11 events.
-The 200Y Medley Relay team of Corbyn Cormack, Kai-Min Tsuei, Abby Turner, and Kimmy Woolfenden claimed the top spot in the event, racing to a finish of 1:45.56. Cormack also won the 200Y IM (2:09.33), and placed second in the 100Y Fly (57.22).
-Tsuei raced to a win in the 100Y Backstroke, touching out at 58.02. The freshman finished second behind her teammate Corrine Yorkman in the 200Y Backstroke, as Yorkman's 2:05.44 in the event claimed the win.
-Abby Turner's 24.19 in the 50Y Free was best in the field. Turner, as well as Tsuei, Kara Gavin, and Raquelle Roesch raced to a win the 400Y Free Relay, combining for a winning time of 3:32.57.
-Gavin's day didn't end with a win in the relay, as the junior also swam to a first-place finish in the 200Y Free (1.55:59).
-In the 400Y IM, Ava Hutcherson bested field with a time of 4:44.26.
-The foursome of Lily Bachl, Cormack, Roesch, and Turner punctuated the Falcons relay success with a win in the 200Y Free Relay, narrowly topping Northern Colorado with a time of 1:37.17.
-The divers also contributed to the Falcons success, as Gabrielle Peltier's 226.60 in the platform dive was enough win the event. The senior also won the three-meter dive with a score of 267.70. Peltier placed fourth in the one-meter dive (236.15), as well.
Last Time Out (Men's)
- The Falcons took control in their return to Cadet Natatorium, as Air Force's two-day total of 1524.0 paved the way for a first-place team total to defeat Wyoming and Colorado School of Mines.
-Erik Pfaffenbichler began the two-day event with a win in the one-meter dive, having been awarded a total of 302.65.
-Alex Kenyon took home first place in the three-meter dive having accumulated a total of 338.15. Kenyon also won the platform dive with a score of 264.65.
-James Winterfield and Camden Swigart, a pair of C4C's, finished first and second in the 200Y IM. Winterfield won the event with a time of 1:55.88, while Swigart was just behind his teammate with a time of 1:56.38.
-Winterfield was also the winner of the 200Y Backstroke (1:54.01), while teammate Louis Body placed second after clocking in at 1:55.11.
-Swigart did eventually claim a solo win, as his time of 10:16.88 in the 1000Y Free bested the field.
-Wen Zhang maintained his dominance, winning the full slate of freestyle races. In the 50Y Free, Zhang won the event after clocking at 20.68. The senior standout was also the victor in the 500Y Free, winning the race after touching out at 4:41.18. Zhang added to his sterling weekend, claiming victory in the 100Y Free (45.41) and the 200Y Free (1:41.08).
-Joseph Moore was victorious in the 200 Fly after winning the race with a time of 1:56.04. Moore also swam to a win in the 400Y IM (4:16.35).
-Another freshman, Anthony Sebastian, won the 100Y Breaststroke following a time of 58.05.
-The Falcons topped the field in the 400Y Free Relay, as the foursome of Stephen Zanowic, Matthew Lattin, Swigart, and Zhang won the race with a time of 3:06.07, six seconds ahead of the second-place team.
-The 400Y Medley Relay team of Zhang, Gabe Bartolomei Tory Bartlett, and Grant Afman also swam to a first-place title. The group finished the race with a time of 3:24.96.
-Afman took home another first-place title in the 100Y Butterfly, as his time of 50.73 was tops in the pool.
-Bridon Rosales narrowly bested Sebastian in the 200Y Breaststroke. Rosales won the race with a time of 2:11.65, while Sebastian's 2:11.70 was good for second place.
Zhang, Kenyon Sweep Weekly WAC Awards
-Wen Zhang and Alex Kenyon have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Jan. 17.
-Zhang, a senior from Dothan, Ala., contributed four first-place finishes to guide Air Force to a meet win over Wyoming and Colorado School of Mines. Zhang was the victor in all four freestyle races. In the 50 freestyle, Zhang won the event after clocking at 20.68. The senior standout was also the winner in the 500 freestyle, winning the race after touching out at 4:41.18. Zhang was also the top finisher in the 100 freestyle (45.41) and the 200 freestyle (1:41.08).
-Kenyon, a sophomore, contributed two first-place finishes to guide Air Force to a meet win over Wyoming and Colorado School of Mines. Kenyon took home first place in the three-meter dive having accumulated a total of 338.15. Kenyon also won the platform dive with a score of 264.65. The C3C concluded his weekend with a fourth-place score of 223.70 in the one-meter dive.
