The Falcons got off to a strong start, using a 9-0 run to go ahead 9-4 early. Air Force led until seven minutes left in the first half, before the Aztecs took the lead. A pair of 9-0 runs by SDSU had the Falcons trailing 39-24 at the half. San Diego State out-rebounded Air Force 25-11 in the first half and held a 12 to 4 advantage in free throw attempts.

The Aztecs led by 18 with 16:37, to play in the second. The Falcons steadily chipped away at the lead and got the game down to five points with a minute to play. San Diego State then closed with the last five points of the game to hold off the Falcons.
Heidbreder returned to form with seven field goals and three three's. He added six rebounds.
Ethan Taylor and Rytis Petraitis both reached double-figures for the Falcons. Taylor scored 12 points, adding three assists and four steals. Petraitis scored 11 points, to go with five rebounds and five assists.
